Bruce was the son of Fred Joseph and Norma (Lowrance) Bauer.
On 17 Oct 1948, Bruce married Jeanetta Cunningham in Piggott,Clay, Arkansas. Bruce and Jeanetta had one daughter: Connie.
Bruce worked as a general contractor as well as a contractor for the state of Illinois.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bruce was a life member of Anna VFW and a member of A.J. Elks Lodge.
Bruce served on the Jonesboro City Council as alderman for 44 consecutive years. April 27, 2007, was proclaimed "Bruce Bauer Day" in Jonesboro in recognition of his many years of service.
Jeanetta preceded Bruce in death. However, his survivors include his daughter, Connie of Jonesboro.
