"Spud" was born August 15,1904 in Yancey Co., NC, and died April 23, 2002, at the age of 97, in Mars Hill NC.
"Spud" married Pearl Mae Hayes on March 13, 1926 in Beckley, Raleigh, West Virginia. They were married for 76 years, and raised 11 children together. They lived in Mars Hill for many years. Spud worked for Mars Hill College as a maintenance engineer and was a Charter Member of Clavary Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents,Pansy Mae(Hall)and Thomas Sheridan Edmonds,one daughter,Geraldine Edmonds,three sons- Harold, Bill and Mike Edmonds,four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Surviving is his loving wife, Pearl, daughters; Jean Thomas, of Columbia,SC, Olamae Boshears, of Alexandria, VA, Iva Buchanan, Roanoke, VA, Edna Freud of Spotsylvania, VA and Judy Ball of Weaverville,NC; sons; Jim Edmonds of Goose Creek, SC and Dr. Larry Edmonds of Hampton, VA.
He was most proud of their thirty-six grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, many who grew up visiting at their home in Mars Hill.
He will be greatly missed by all, especially his Pearl.
