She was the wife of Donald E. Gunden, to whom she was married 64 years on August 21.
Born in Protection, Kansas on April 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Erma J. (Troyer) Zimmerman.
She was a 1940 graduate of Protection High School, Kansas, and attended Hesston College, also in Kansas.
Her first job was teaching eight grades in a one room country schoolhouse.
She was later employed as a Therapeutic Recreation Aide at Cedar Haven, Lebanon, PA, for 20 years, retiring in 1994.
A member of Akron Mennonite Church, Akron, PA, she taught Sunday School for many years. She worked with the Brownie Scouts in Myerstown for many years and enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, and traveling. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Marilyn J.
Gunden of Myerstown, PA, Bonita L. Gunden of Amarillo, Texas; sons, Donald K., husband of Theresa Gunden of Goshen, Indiana, Douglas E. Gunden of Myerstown, PA; four grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; sisters, Norma Conrad of Rock Falls, Illinois, JoAnn, wife of Bill Day of Amarillo, Texas; brothers, Earl, husband of Helen Zimmerman of Huntington Beach, California, Alfred, husband of Nancy Zimmerman of Protection, Kansas, Mike, husband of Louise Zimmerman of Boise, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Lauffer, Ruby Stotts, and a brother, James Zimmerman.
