Viola Tucker Cook, 91, of Wilmington, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013. She was born on June 23, 1922 to the late William and Clora Starling Tucker. Viola grew up in Surry County in the Rockford Road Community of Dobson. She and her family were members of Salem Baptist Church. She moved to Winston-Salem in her teens where she lived until moving to Wilmington in 1997. Viola was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving to cherish her memory are her devoted sons, Jerry Cook and wife Marilyn, of Raleigh, James Cook (Danny) and wife Cheryl, of Wilmington, Randy Cook and wife, Kimberly of Siler City; a daughter-in-law, Beth Cook, of Salisbury; six beloved grandchildren, Randal Cook and wife Teresa, Christopher Cook and wife Lauren, Timothy Cook and wife Lisa, Nathan Henderson, Megan Cook and Ethan Cook and two great granddaughters, Anisten Cook and Claire Cook. Preceding her in death was her son, David Cook; her parents; three sisters, Grace Whitaker, Dovie Edmunds and Annie Simpson; and two brothers, Walter Tucker and J.W. Tucker. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2013 in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home of Dobson with burial to follow in Salem Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 AM until the hour of the service.
