My grandfather, Lee Rash, told me that his parents Julia Ann Smith and Daniel Rash were both killed together on the same date. He and his sisters were traveling with his parents at the time in Arkansas. His sisters and he were taken in by Susan Coffey and her husband. When my grandfather's brothers heard of the death of their parents, they traveled to Arkansas and took my grandpa back with them. They left the two younger girls with Susan Coffey and her husband to raise. Although the brothers tried to find their parents gravesite, they were never able to find it, or exactly how their parents were killed.
