Born Elizabeth Freeman in Oxford, England, she and her family emigrated to America in 1682. The family first settled in Philadelphia where tradition has it that her father drowned in the Delaware River. The family then moved to Piscataway, New Jersey. On December 18, 1701 she married John Ford, a carpenter and land speculator from Duxbury, Massachusetts. The couple settled in Woodbridge, New Jersey. They would have three children, Experience, Jacob, and Samuel. She was widowed in 1721 and remarried three years later to wheelwright John Linsley. Elizabeth was again widowed in 1749, and she then moved into her son Jacob's home where she died at the at of 91.∼Elizabeth Lindsley passed away at the age of 91.
