Nan Alexander
April 8, 1929 - Nov. 3, 2013
Nan Alexander, wife of Bruce; mother of Todd, Paul and Nancy; mother–in-law to Silvia, Robin and Janis; sister to Matt and Harold; and "Oma" to seven grandchildren; died on Nov. 3, 2013. We like to think that Bruce, who died three months before her, couldn't bear it without her and came to get her. They were a devoted couple, married after knowing each other only three months and never were apart that long during their 62 years of marriage.
Nan left Ireland as a young woman of 18 and never looked back. She was a proud American, an attentive mother, a generous host and a wonderful cook. She loved going on adventures with her husband in their RV. She loved square dancing, watching golf, gardening and entertaining. She kept an immaculate home and she particularly enjoyed entertaining family and friends in the beautiful home that she designed and Bruce built in Shingle Springs 22 years ago. When her children were young she volunteered at their school and worked as a yard duty. When her youngest entered high school she began working full time for Mt. Diablo Unified School District with children who had special needs.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit and most of all for her warm and welcoming smile.
