Edna Mae Alexander (54) resident of Plummer, ID died January 9, 2013 at Coeur d' Alene from complications with a stroke. She was born February 4, 1958 to Tommie and Pauline (Dick) Simpson at Nespelem, WA.

Edna grew up at Nespelem and attended schools at Chilocco, OK and Pateros, WA. She married Michael Valee Sr. in 1979 at Coeur d' Alene, ID. They made their home at Lapwai, ID and Bellingham, WA where she was a homemaker. She was divorced in 1989. She lived in Nespelem where she was a single parent working for the Nespelem Trading Post as well as the Coulee Dam Casino. She became involved in a relationship with Anthony Frank which conceived her daughter Mariah. She traveled between Nespelem and Worley where she met Samuel Alexander. They were married in 2004 at Coeur d' Alene. They made their home at Worley before moving to Plummer in 2007.

Edna worked as a cashier for the Benewah Market at Plummer, ID. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. A mechanic, she enjoyed working on her cars. She was an avid reader and loved going to yard sales. She had a passion for cleanliness and kept her home immaculate. Edna loved attending Pow Wow's and playing stick games. She also enjoyed visiting the Casino at Worley. She was a member of the Colville Confederated Tribes and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Nespelem.

She is survived by her husband, [three] sons, [two] daughters [survivors names omitted]. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and [three] sisters. She was preceded in death by her mother Pauline Dick and Thomas Simpson and by son Frances Lewis Vallee.

Rosary recited Friday Jan. 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. And Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Saturday Jan. 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. both at the Rose Creek Longhouse with Fr. Robert Erickson S.J. Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Worley with a gathering of family and friends following back at the Longhouse.
