Wood, was born Feb. 24, 1834, in Gallia County, Ohio, and died at her home near Byers' at 7:40 a.m., Wednesday, May 11th, 1887, aged 53 years, 2 months and 17 days. Deceased was married to G. W. Hedges, Jan. 4, 1853, and was the mother of twelve children, two of whom died in infancy. She joined the M.E. Church in 1860 at Gallia Furnace, re-united at Byers' in 1872. Her life was an example of Christian faith, continually exercising those Christian influences and religious instructions that are lasting. She suffered severe physical pain for nearly two years, but bore it with that patience and fortitude that characterized her nature, but passed away so calmly, so peacefully. Her last words were "Blessed Jesus." The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Crooks, Pastor of the M. E. Church at Coalton, in a very able and impressive manner.
