Mrs. Arthur C. Emmons died Monday at the age of 89. Mrs. Emmons, whose late husband practiced law in Portland for more than 50 years, was born in Almont, Mich., February 2, 1866, and came to Portland in 1885. She was first president and president emeritus of the Portland Garden club, and for many years opened her garden annually for the club's spring tours.
She was an early member of the Portland Art class and was a member of the DAR.
Surviving are a son, Harold, of Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Smith of Portland and Mrs. Hall Lusk, Salem; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Private services will be Wednesday at Riverview cemetery and mausoleum.
