Services for Ms. Billie Ekes Freeman will be held 2 pm, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Union United Methodist Church with burial in the Union City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 6-8 pm, Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Milling Funeral Home of Union.

Billie Ellen Ekes Freeman,87, of Union, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family, Sunday, December 22, 2013. She grew up in Ellisville, Mississippi, the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. Her parents were Henry Walter Ekes and Mellie Emma Walters Ekes.

Billie graduated from Jones County Junior College and Mississippi College with a degree in English. She came to Union to teach school in 1948, where she met and married Robert Freeman in 1949, with whom she spent the next sixty-four years. She served as Den Mother, PTA member, Sunday School Teacher and long time Garden Club member, while raising three children. She and Bobby enjoyed playing bridge with other local couples in their younger years. Later they spent many happy hours attending their grandson's baseball games.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Joye Elizabeth Smith.
