Worked as a miller. Married July 22, 1841, in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, Hannah Broadbent. They had 7 children, two of whom died as infants. They emigrated with the five surviving children to the USA in 1855, moving to Canada shortly after arrival. Hannah died in 1864.

Charles moved from Canada to the USA sometime after his first wife's death and married his second wife, Hannah Johnson Aston, on October 3, 1870 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They lived in Bountiful, Davis, Utah, where Adcock ran the Heber C. Kimball gristmill. There were four children from the second marriage: twin boys Joseph and Hyrum, who both died young; and daughters Margaret and Phoebe.
