Born in Wells County on July 12, 1925, to Noah and Naomi Gilliom
Aschliman, Sarah married Paul J. Meyer in Bluffton on Nov. 4, 1945; he
preceded her in death on May 25, 2007.
Sarah was a 1943 graduate of Lancaster High School and a member of the
Apostolic Christian Church. She had worked as a waitress at the Airport
Restaurant in Fort Wayne for 15 years and then the Dutch Mill in Bluffton for
18 years.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Meyer of Fort Collins, CO, and Jeffrey
(Danette) Meyer of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Jackie (Robert) Ely of
Montgomery, AL, and Deb Nutter of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, three
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Moser of Bluffton.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah was preceded in death by
four brothers, Kenneth, Harold, Robert, and Glenn “Butch” Aschliman; and
three sisters, Mahilda Dubach, Evelyn Ely, and Delores King.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 2:00 until 8:00 PM, at
Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. Services will be held Thursday,
May 25, at 10:00 AM, at the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church, with
one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Doyle Frauhiger and
Steve Ringger will officiate. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian
Cemetery in Adams County.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions may be made to the
Christian Care Retirement Community “Good Samaritan Fund” or the
Apostolic Christian Church
