James Thomas "Smokey" Allgood, 79, of Boydton, passed away October 29, 2001. He was a member of Christ Chapel Episcopal Church, a member of the VFW in South Hill, a WWII Army veteran and was retired from Burlington Industries. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Irene M. Allgood; sons and daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Mary Starling Allgood, Alberta, Michael C. and Yvonne Allgood, Chase City; sisters, Pattie Lee Watson, South Hill, Ann Harris and Ethel Watson; one brother, Chambers Allgood, all of Baskerville; grandchildren, Jeff C. Allgood, Richmond, David M. Allgood and Kristin Allgood, Chase City; devoted brother-in-law and wife, Ben and Lois Morgan, South Hill. Friends may call at Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Boydton Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor B.J. McKee officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Boydton Life Station, P.O. Box 182, Boydton, Va. 23917.
