Doug loved everyone with a deep passion. All who were fortunate enough to know him will never forget his radiant smile, warm hugs, and boundless hospitality. Doug served honorably in the United States Marine Corp and often referred to November 10th, U.S. Marine Corp birthday, as his second birthday.
Doug had a zest for living and wanted to experience the best of what life had to offer. He had several diverse jobs which included policeman, investigator, Office Manager for the States Attorney's office, driver, parts manager, and Homeland Security supervisor. He had a love of motorcycles and airplanes and earned a private pilot's license. He held certificates in welding, auto repair, French and Mediterranean cooking, crime scene photography, and hostage negotiation. His hobbies included an interest in history and touring Civil War battle sites. He always had one more adventure to add to his bucket list. Doug once said that his most enduring interest was his wife as he had stayed with her longer than anything else.
Doug considered his children to be his greatest success. He was proud of their accomplishments and supported them in all their endeavors. Most of all, he was pleased with their character and integrity which were the same qualities he sought in his friends and relationships. His home was always open to family and friends. He asked you not to cry for him but to remember him and the good times you shared.
