Mr. Philip E. "Phil" Carter, 92, of Sylvester died Friday December 27, 2013 at his residence.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday December 30, 2013 at Byne Memorial Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Matthew Nance and Rev. Grady Morey will officiate.
Mr. Carter was born in Doerun on July 21, 1921 to the late Clarence Edward and Mary Rebecca Herring Carter. He had lived in Dougherty and Worth Counties most of his life and was a retired Realtor. Mr. Carter was a SSgt in the United States Army having served during WWII. He was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and was a former deacon and member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Carter enjoyed his work and loved his family.
Survivors include his daughters, Phyllis Reddick and Kathy C. Young both of Albany; grandchildren, Michael Reddick (Christi), Bryan Reddick (Brooke), April Langley (J.) and Rob Carter, great grandchildren, Carter Reddick, Cydnie Reddick, Chelsea Potter, Lane Potter, Cobe McGee and Lana Cruz; sisters, Hazel Anderson of Sylvester; Laurene Smailes of Sylvester; Latrelle Lane of Hopewell, VA; and Shirley Fordham of Crawfordville, FL.
In addition to his parents Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Helen Hall Carter on March 21, 2013, son, Robert E. "Robbe" Carter on April 29, 1989, a grandson, Stevie Fryer and a granddaughter, Denise Young.
