heryl Ann Beardsley Bryant, 55, lost her long and valiant battle with cancer at Hospice Austin's Christopher House at 12:14 AM, December 26, 2013. Cheryl was born on September 6, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas and lived in Fort Worth until she was 10. The family then moved to Austin in 1968 and she attended Zilker and St Elmo elementary schools. At Porter, she began playing the bass clarinet and continued in band throughout high school. She was very proud to be included in the Crockett Cougar Band (her daughter is now a member) that represented Texas in the Bi-Centennial Parade in Washington D.C. On July 4, 1976. She became an accomplished bass clarinetist and played with the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble after high school.

During her career, she worked for Bob Bullock for a number of years and enjoyed telling stories of happenings in his political office, but her greatest joy was the birth of her daughter in 1998.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Dean and their daughter Michelle (Shelly) Ann; her best friend and soul mate Michelle Thompson, who has constantly cared for her throughout her long battle; her mother Norma Beardsley; brother James and wife Sheryl; niece Elizabeth Cassidy, husband Walt and son Jack.

A memorial service is planned at Sunrise Community Church on January 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM, visitation with family begins at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Sunrise Community Church, 4430 Manchaca Road, Austin, TX 78745.
