The daughter of Richard and Lucretia (Sails) Groger, she was born October 20, 1857 in Lynn County. Her marriage to Ephriam Wesley Worthen took place April 10, 1873 at Dahlonega, Iowa. He preceded her in death. She had been a resident of Ottumwa, Iowa most of her life, and was an active member at the Wesley Methodist Church.
Surviving besides her daughter Mrs. Parker, with whom she lived, are another daughter Mrs. Howard Brown Ottumwa, Iowa; three sons, Horace George Worthen, of Lemark, Texas; and John Ernest Worthen and Marion A. Worthen both of Seattle, Washington; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 14 great great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:30 P.M. at Wesley Methodist Church. Burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery Ottumwa, Iowa.
