Born in Lenzo, KY, Mr. Sanders had been a Hamilton resident for the past 50 years and was retired from Exide Corporation (formerly Stokes Molded Products) in Trenton as a machine operator after many years of employment.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving his country, during World War II, from 1943-1946 and was awarded the Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal.
Bill, along with his late wife Anna, were among the co-founders of the New Jersey Beach Buggy Association and were life members. He was also a member of the United Mobile Sportsfisherman Association.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed surf fishing, golf, traveling throughout the country and camping.
William is predeceased by his beloved wife, Anna Hvisdak Sanders, six brothers and six sisters, his mother-in-law, Lydia Oravsky Hvisdak and his granddaughter, Baby Angela Marie Beirn.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Susanne and Martin J. Beirn of Hamilton and Shirley A. and Mark G. Fennimore of Cream Ridge; four grandchildren, Kathryn Ann Beirn Newbon of Portsmouth, VA, Mark G. II, Steven Andrew and Abigail Marie Fennimore, all of Cream Ridge; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Marie Beirn Newbon; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lula and John Thomas of Cleveland, OH.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday from the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
Family and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Home.
