FELIX H. FLESHER
Felix H. Flesher was born in Lewis county, West Virginia (then Virginia) on the 18th day of January, 1823, and removed with his parents to Pleasants county while in his youth, where he resided until he arrived at manhood.. He then took up his residence in Parkersburg, W. Va., where he resided about eleven years and then removed to a farm near the village of Meadville, Tyler county, W. Va., where he resided until his death, which occurred Monday evening October 28th, 1901. He was 76 years, 9 months and 10 days.
He leaves a wife and eight children behind him. For the last two years he has been afflicted with partial paralysis, and on October 27th, 1901, while at his dinner, the grim messenger of death suddenly appeared and hurled the third destroying shaft into his body, rendering him unconscious and from which he never aroused, but peacefully passed the portals of time to and entered into the Great Unknown, that "undiscovered country, from whose bourne no traveler returns." At his bedside when God required of him his soul, stood his aged wife, his four sons and one daughter, although he knew it not. His body was laid in its last resting place in Meadville Cemetery, on Wednesday, October 30th, 1901, in the presence of a large concourse of people, assembled to honor, in silence, a good citizen, neighbor and friend, there to sleep until the final trump shall sound to call the sleeping dead to judgment.
The highest tribute men can pay to his memory - and 'tis his due - is, he was a good citizen, a kind and loving father, an affectionate husband, and a faithful friend, honest in his convictions, kind and courteous to all, and we feel assured today that he has entered into that rest prepared for the finally faithful, who die in the Lord. ----A Son.
