(Garfield Heights) — Authorities are asking the public for help solving the brutal rape and killing of a teenager at Christmastime more than 26 years ago.
17-year-old Barbara Blatnik's nude body was found on the morning of Dec. 20, 1987, in Cuyahoga Falls, about 30 miles from her home in Garfield Heights.
She had been raped and strangled to death.
Barbara's sister, Donna Zanath, says the killing "broke" her family and that life hasn't been the same since she died.
She says finding out who did it would be the best Christmas present her family could ask for this year.
Authorities say even the smallest piece of information could lead to the killer and ask anyone with information to call the Cuyahoga Falls Detective Bureau at 330-971-8334.
