NORTHPORT, AL - Stephen Elton Black, age 63 of Northport, formerly of Savannah, Ga. died April 21, 2013 at home with his sisters at his side.
Graveside services at Bonaventure Cemetery will be at 1 P.M. Friday, Aug. 2nd.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jane Black; grandparents, Cornelia and Edward Russell, Leo and Patricia Poythress.
Survivors include his sisters, Sue Washburne (Jack) and Sandy Wilson; Niece, Stephanie Smith; nephews, Trey and Tim Washburne; great nephews, Hunter, Chase, and Camden; aunts and uncles, Mr. & Mrs. George Meinert and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Black and numerous cousins.
Steve was an honorably discharged Vietnam veteran.
Steve resided in Savannah until 3 years prior to his death at which time he moved to Alabama to be near his family and live with his sister, Sandy.
Although Steve died after a short illness, he was an inspiration to his family and friends with his sweet humble spirit never complaining even with his physical limitations and pain that he endured for many years.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in honor of Steve.
