She was born in Wilmington, NC, on February 10, 1945, the daughter of Margaret Deans Roper and the late Lt. Col. Thomas H. Saks.
Mrs. Watkins graduated from Kaiserslautern High School in Germany. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed all types of gatherings with family and friends. Robin loved the beach and traveling and her favorite place to be was St. Augustine, Florida. She loved decorating, crystals, diamond jewelry and a good pair of flip-flops. Her other passions were plants and gardening which could be evidenced by her spectacular backyard.
Surviving in addition to her mother is her husband of over forty-five years, Edward Lawrence Watkins; one son, Evan Watkins and wife Julie; one daughter, Deborah Wright and husband Mark; and a granddaughter, Sarah Watkins.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Sunday, December 29 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday at Andrews Market Chapel with Dr. Lottie Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
