Indus on Rainy & Ancestry.com: Mary E. Phegley was born in Brown County, Indiana to David Phegley & Emma David. She was one of 10 children. Her siblings were Albert, Sarah, Fanny, Albert Charles, Emma, John, Etta, David, & Martha.

In 1897, she married Ira Miles Dobbs in Brown Co., Indiana. Her sister Fanny married his brother David Dobbs. In 1902, the 2 couples, with 3 children each, left Indiana & moved to the wilderness of Burriss, Ontario.

Life in Burriss was difficult. Ira, Mary, & Fanny all became ill with typhoid fever. In a few months, they decided to move to Emo, Ontario. It was in a log cabin in Emo in 1903 that Mary gave birth to her last child, Ira Miles, Jr.

In the spring of 1903, Ira took a homestead across the river in Indus, MN & the family moved again. Unfortunately, in 1904, Mary died leaving 4 small children: Arlie Solomon, Emma Jane, Mamie Merle, & Ira Miles. She was buried in the Indus Cemetery.
