Hank was the oldest of 9 children. His siblings were Jesse, Alvin, Emma, Mae, Richard, Herta, George, & Grace. Hank's father died in 1913 when Hank was 15 & his sister Grace was 2 weeks old. Life was difficult in the following years. His maternal grandfather, Karl Mai, moved to Indus from Rib Lake, Wisconsin to help.
Hank never married. He did farm labor all his life & lived with his mother for many years.
Upon his death, he was interred in the Indus Cemetery.
