Count Walram ruled the County of Sponheim and came from the noble family of the counts.
Walram was probably born around 1305 in Kastellaun. There his father, Simon II resided until his death in 1336. When his uncle Johann II died in 1340, Walram took over the Government in the entire County of Sponheim. He United the territory and chose as his castle in Kreuznach. Already in 1330, he had married Elisabeth von Katzenelnbogen. Count Walram led many feuds. Walram died in 1380. He was buried in the Abbey of Pfaffen-Schwabenheim, his tomb is still there.
His children with Elisabeth were:
Simon III. von Sponheim-Kreuznach and Graf von Vianden
Elisabeth, married to Johann IV of Sponheim-Starkenburg
Margarethe
