Kathleen Anne Gleason Biggiam, 54, of Wataga, IL, formerly of LaHarpe, IL passed away peacefully at her home on December 25, 2013. She was the youngest of three children born to the late Glenn Gleason and Mary Anne Gill Gleason Ruth on May 29, 1959. Kate married Harold Biggiam on October 2, 1987, they later divorced.
Kate received her education from LaHarpe Community Schools, graduating from high school in 1977. Her education continued at Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg, IL, graduating with a degree in nursing in 1979. She enjoyed a thirty year career as a medical secretary at St. Mary's Medical Center, Galesburg.
A lifelong member of the Union Church of LaHarpe, she sang with "The Followers" group for many years. Kate was vivacious, energetic and always caring and concerned for others. She loved dancing, planning fun activities and was a big sports fan. At the top of her enjoyment list were her travels to Hawaii, Las Vegas and Florida.
Surviving her is daughter Lindsey (Jason) and granddaughter Alexis Kristine Huston all of Victoria, IL, former husband Hal of Galesburg, mother Mary Anne Ruth and her friend, Waleri' Neumann of Ft. Myers, FL, brother, Dr. Martin "Marty" Charles (Julie) Gleason, nephew, Scott, and niece, Emily all of Farfield, IA. Additional nieces and nephews are Nicole Anne (Ball) Coyle and children, Tatum, Trevor and Tanner of East Peoria, Shawn Ball of San Diego, CA, Joshua (Jen) Ball and children, Alanna and Cole of Washington State, family of Kate's sister, Linda Kay (Gleason) Ball who passed away September 3, 2005. Kate's father, Glenn LaVerne Gleason was deaceased in 2010.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2013 at the LaHarpe Cemetery. Following the service, all are invited to the Union Church at 107 N. Center St., LaHarpe, for coffee, a tribute in pictures of Kate's life, and meeting with the family. In lieu of flowers, a "Memorial to Kate" may be sent to Banks & Beals Funeral Home, P.O. Box 503, LaHarpe, IL 61450. Condolences may be sent to Lindsay Biggiam, 406 W. Main, Victoria, IL 61485.
