Diane Abbott Bray-Rice, 56 years of age, of the Cedar Grove community departed this life on Christmas Eve, Tuesday December 24th, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Diane was born on March 11th, 1957 in Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of the late Forrest William Abbott and Jessie Sears Abbott Oder. Judy was a retired Teachers Aide for Southern Middle School, She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her dogs Grizzelda and Zoey, and loved her job.

Diane was survived by her husband, Lawrence Rice; one son, Jimmy (and Donna) Abbott; two daughters, Jessica (and James Bolin) Bray and Diane "Baby" (and Jeff) Davis; one brother, Hank Abbott; five sisters, Irene (and Bill) Lee, Susie (and Eddie) Cook, Doris (and Anthony) Nevels, Judy (and Jackie) Phelps, and Dora (and Doug) Worley; six grandchildren, Harley Hughes, Andrew Hughes, Jordan Abbott, Kody Abbott, Summer Abbott, and Tiana Perry; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest Abbott, who departed this life on December 31st, 2002 and Jessie Oder, who departed this life on November 4th, 1989; her step father, William J. Oder, who departed this life on February 10th, 1987; and one great grandchild, Vincent Hughes.

Visitations were held on Friday, December 27th, 2013 after 6:00 p.m. at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 28th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Sears and Bro. Earl Owens officiating.

Burial followed in the White Lily Cemetery.
