OBITUARY.
LAY.
Mathias Lay, and[sic] old and highly esteemed resident of Peru township, died at his home near Giesel's Springs, at a quarter to 8 o'clock Saturday morning, aged 71 years. Deceased is survived by his wife and several children. The funeral was held Monday morning, services being held at the Holy Ghost church and was under the direction of Undertaken Spahn, the interment being at St. Mary's cemetery. Mr. Lay was an excellent man and a true Christian.
The surviving children are John P., Mrs. Dan Udelhofen, of Peru, and Mrs. Matt Clemens, of Dyersville.
