Frank F "Coley" Kohlrus passed away March 3, 2003 at Valley General Hospital in Renton, Washington. He was born in Ellis, Kansas, November 1, 1921, son of Karl and Anna (Augustine) Kohlrus.

He was a proud member of America's greatest generation serving in Europe during WWII in the 1st Division Artillery from May 1942 until his discharge in Oct 1945. He was recalled into service during the Korean conflict and served as an MP under the command of General McArthur in Tokyo, Japan from Sept 1950 until July 1951. He was employed by Ideal Basic Industries as the purchasing supervisor for 30 years and retired on March 1, 1984. He and his family have resided in Washington for the past 37 years.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Gallison Kohlrus of the home; two daughters, Kollun of Seattle, Wash, Paulette Stocking and husband Charles and children Kristen and Dustin of Walla Walla, Wash; a son, Kirk and his wife Pattie and children Bradley and Kaylie of Sammamish, Wash; three brothers, Pete, Junction City, John, Hays, and Robert, Metanora, Ill; five sisters, Eleanor Cox, Estacuda, Ore, Marie Alberssen, East Peoria, Ill, Martha Franz, Washington, Ill, Aurelia Ketterman, San Antonio, Texas and Jeanie Thorp, Peoria, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Karl Jr, Bill and Jake; a sister, Lena.

The funeral service was held at Greenwood Memorial Funeral Hoe in Renton, Wash on March 7, 2003. There will be gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life at Mt Hope Cemetery in Ellis, Kan, Monday, May 26, 2003 at 2 pm after which his ashes will be buried there.
