Mary Luette Barton Belden, 82, of New London, NH, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Peabody Home in Franklin, NH.

Mary Lue was born in PA on February 16, 1931. Her family returned to New London, NH in 1935 after the death of her father. Raised within a close family, Mary Lue graduated from New London High School Class of '48, and attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated in 1952. While there she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and choir. She became a lead soloist for the UNH choir, graduating with a degree in English.

In 1952 Mary Lue married Charles Marston Belden. They made their home in Hatfield, Mass where Charlie worked with his family's farming business. In 1963 they moved to Bloomfield, CT where they continued raising their children. Mary Lue was an active member in the Bloomfield Congregational Church where she was a deacon, member of many committees, frequent soloist with the choir, and spent many years teaching in the Nursery school at the church. Later Mary Lue worked with Connecticut General Insurance as an administration assistant. Mary Lue retired in 1994 and they moved to New London, NH to care for her mother. Charlie, lovingly cared for Mary Lue at home as her dementia advanced, with help from their children and The First Baptist Church. During the last 4 months of her life, she was cared for by the many wonderful caregivers at Peabody Home in Franklin, NH.

Mary Lue leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Charles M Belden, her children and spouses, Caroline and Ed Harrington, Steve and Mary Parson Belden, Betsy and Mark Makuch, Melinda and Steve Silverstein-Belden, 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
