Grandpa was one of identical twins born to Ralph and Melva Rees. He served in the US Army during World War II, on the European front. On Jan 22, 1946, he married Lueen Leavitt in Salt Lake City, UT. They settled in her native town of Teton, Idaho, and lived there for 59 years. To them were born 3 daughters: Johnnye (1947), my mother Bobbe (1948), and Kathleen (1951). He taught shop at public schools in Idaho when my mom and aunts were young. In my own lifetime he kept a garden of vegetables such as corn and peas. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and kept a safe full of guns, although I never saw him fire one. In the last few years of his life he was diagnosed with melanoma, which spread to other parts of his body. In September 2005 he and Grandma moved to an assisted-living center in Idaho Falls; shortly afterward he was admitted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where, after about a month, he passed away.
