Arthur W. Swan, 76, of 706 Lakeview Avenue, prominent Jamesown insurance executive and former banker, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, in his home.
Mr. Swan was born April 8, 1880, in Randolph, the son of Daniel and Elizabeth White Swan. He came to Jamestown from Randolph 46 years ago, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church here. He attended Chamberlain Institute, Randolph. A charter member of the Jamestown Rotary Club, he was a former treasurer of the Sportsmen's Club and a former member of Jamestown Consistory. He was also a past master of Mt. Moriah Lodge, No. 145, F.and A.M., serving in that capacity in 1918. He was married to the former Sadie Loucks on Oct. 4, 1906, in Jamestown by the Presbyterian minister, Rev. Otis Smith. He served on the War Ration Board during World War II. Mr. Swan was well known for his active interest and unusual ability in sports, especially baseball and basketball. He had been an avid follower of PONY League games.
He formed the Swan-Rowley Insurance Company with C. Lynn Rowley in 1933. He had also been a vice president of Chauauqua National Bank.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sadie Loucks Swan; a son Daniel A. Swan, Jamestown; two grandchildren, Judith A Swan and Stephen Swan both of Jamestown; a niece, Mrs. Grace Wrench, Los Angeles, Calif., three nephews, Robert Sackett, Lockport, Edward Parker, Brownsville, Tex; and Eugene Loucks, Deerfield Beach, Fla., and a sister-in-law, Mrs Lillian L. Parker, Jamestown.

Arthur W. Swan, 76, well-known Jamestown insurance executive and a Randolph native, died at his home, 706 Lakeview Avenue Wednesday evening.
The son of Daniel S. and Elizabeth White Swan, he was born April 8, 1880 in Randolph. He attended Chamberlain Institute here. With Lynn Rowley he formed the Swan-Rowley Insurance Company in 1933.  He also was a former vice president of the Chautauqua National Bank.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sadie Loucks Swan; a son, Daniel A. Swan of Jamestown, and two grandchildren, Judith A. Swan and Stephen Swan, both of Jamestown.
Funeral services will be held at Henderson-Lincoln Funeral Home at 3:30 today (Friday).  The Rev. Gilbert F. Vanbever, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
