Nicholas Wagner, 17, Iowa City, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics of complications of cardiomyopathy. The Rev. Ronald Lashmit will officiate. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Nicholas Wagner Memorial in care of Hills Bank, 1401 S. Gilbert, Iowa City, IA 52240.

He was born March 12, 1989, in Iowa City, the son of Phillis K. Wagner Ellis. He also had a heart birthday on Oct. 8, 1995. He was recently awarded his high school diploma from Elizabeth Tate High School, Iowa City. He enjoyed bowling; was one of the biggest fundraisers for the American Heart Association; and was a member of the Heart Friends.
Survivors include his mother, Phillis Ellis and husband Jack of Iowa City; his grandfather, Phillip Wagner and wife Penny of Iowa City; two aunts, Cheryl Schlueter and husband Ron of Tipton and Lisa Wagner and husband Saul Aguirre of Muscatine; and his girlfriend, Kayla Canarr of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Janet Wagner and an uncle, Ron Wagner, both in 2001.

A special thank you to his ''extended family'' at the U of I Pediatric Intensive Care 2JCP, Pediatric Cardiology, Heart Transplant Team and Childlife.
