At 12 years of age, on the 1900 census, Ellen was living with Melvin and Matilda Blanton Slone in Rowan County, Kentucky. Melvin was her father's brother.
Ellen married John Logan Prince (son of Thomas and Elizabeth Hays Prince Jr) on December 22, 1910 in Carter County, Kentucky. Together, they had eight children:

At the time of her death, Ellen had resided in New Castle, Indiana for more than 25 years. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth (William) Archer after having been in failing health for several weeks.
Surviving, along with daughter, Elizabeth, were her daughters Mrs. Evelyn (Dale) Amonett and Mrs. Beatrice (Fred) Feaster, both of New Castle; three sons, Chester, Otis and Roy, all also of New Castle; 37 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Calling and services were provided by Macer Funeral Home and burial was in South Mound Cemetery.
