BELTON — Services for Kenneth Dean Wooley, 78, of Temple will be 11 a.m. Friday at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Bill Adams officiating.

Burial will be in Val Verde Cemetery in Holland.

Mr. Wooley died Saturday, Dec. 21, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 29, 1935, in Waco to Claude Wesley and Opal Fay Oliver Wooley. He worked for the Texas Department of Transportation as an equipment operator, retiring after 25 years. He was a member of the Bell County Sportsman Club; the Central Texas CB Club; and the Heart of Texas Classic Chevy Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Wooley and Wesley Wooley, both of Temple; a daughter, Kathy Annette Smith of Belton; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Val Verde Cemetery Association, 15372 FM 2268, Holland, TX 76534.
Posted: Wednesday, December 25, 2013.Kenneth Dean Wooley of Temple passed away Saturday evening at home with his family after a short illness. Kenneth was born in Waco, TX to Claude Wesley Wooley and Opal Fay (Oliver) Wooley. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of forty one years Frances Mae (Sutton) Wooley, a baby brother of Holland, Chester Lee Wooley of Holland and Della Mae (husband Bentley Allen) Arnold of Temple.
Kenneth's parents were share croppers. He grew up working on a farm and dealing with tractors, picking cotton and working with farm animals. He was used to working hard all of his life. This would teach him a work ethic that he continued the rest of his life.
Kenneth worked for the Texas Highway Department as part of the road maintenance crew. He operated every piece of equipment that the State had at the time of his employment. He retired from the State after over 25 years of service to the public service.
Kenneth loved to travel with Frances and his children sons Steve and Wesley and daughter Kathy. Kenneth and Frances loved to travel to Branson, MO with his lifelong friend Bobby Hilliard and his wife Mary Ann Hilliard (cousin) of Belton. Kenneth was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved classic cars especially 1955 to 1957 Chevrolet cars. He would just as soon fish as eat. Kenneth's favorite fishing partners were his brother Chester Lee Wooley and his brother in law Robert Ratliff (Della Wooley's second husband) and of course his son Wesley.
Kenneth was a member of the Bell County Sportsman Club, Central TX CB club and Heart of TX Classic Chevy Club.
Survivors include his sons Steve Wooley and wife Linda of Temple, Wesley Wooley and his wife Debbie of Temple and Kathy Annette Smith and her husband Barry Lee Smith of Belton, grand children Jackson Stancel Wooley Smith of Belton, Justin Bryd, Jason Bryd both of Temple, Cedar Wooley of Troy and Carrie Lynn Crowley of Bluffton, SC.
Survivors also include six great grandchildren Olivia Bryd of Temple, Jaydin Wooley of Temple, Hunter Nash of Troy, Emma and Hailey Hillis of Temple and Brody Gilmour of Bluffton, SC.
