Larry Gene Sanford, 73, of Rogersville, Missouri passed away suddenly Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Ia. of heart failure following a short illness.

Larry was born June 29, 1940, at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, Iowa, the second son to Gordon Keith & Leila Lorrene (Ponsar) Sanford. Larry graduated from Oelwein High School in 1958 going on to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree from Upper Iowa University in 1962. He served in the Army from 1963 to 1965.

He married once to Connie Chase on April 19, 1975, they had two daughters, Lisa Renee and Melissa Lynn, later dissolving their union after raising their daughter. He worked at Nestle Inc., the former Carnation Company in Waverly, Ia. for 36 years finally retiring in 1998.

After retiring he moved to Rogersville, Missouri to be closer to his daughter and her family where he has spent the remainder of his time. Larry was a man loved by all who met him and no one ever was a stranger.

He loved to laugh, talk cars and tell stories of his time in the army, his experiences at Carnation and time spent with friends and family; always over a cold Schlitz beer if there was one.

He kept in touch with many of his friends over the last few years as he frequently visited Iowa each year spending considerable time with a special friend, Carol.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gordon Lee and a daughter Lisa Renee.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Melissa Parker and husband Roger, two grandchildren Kay Renee and Dylan Tyler all of Rogersville, Missouri, and a sister-in-law Arlene Sanford of Mansfield, Ohio; a very special friend, Carol Patton of Cedar Falls, Ia. and life long best friend Bud (Karon) Henderson, Oelwein, along with numerous other friends and family that will greatly miss him.
