Poet Laureate who worked with Dryden and produced several adaptions of Shakespeare plays. Pope satirised him in his 'Dunciad'. His achievement that has survived to modern times is his authorship of the lyrics to the carol 'While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night'.
