Born on March 15, 1933. in Wadsworth, to Howard and Klytia (Cleckner) Hollis, Ron was a life-long resident of Doylestown. He was the owner and operator of the Hollis Agency for 35 years, serving the community as a realtor and insurance agent.
Ron was an active member of the Doylestown Area Business Association and served on the carnival committee for several years. He was also a bus driver for nine years with Chippewa Local School District.
A veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War, he was a member of Doylestown American Legion Post 407. He was also a member of Doylestown United Methodist Church, Doylestown Lions Club, Doylestown Jaycees, and was a life member of the NRA. Ron instructed the Ohio Hunter Safety Education Program and for many years was a top marksman with Doylestown Rifle Team. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing as well as travelling to Florida -- especially in the winter.
Preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Matthew Hollis; he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; a son, Craig (Carolyn) Hollis of Doylestown; a daughter, Cheryl Hollis and husband, Dr. Robert Marsico Sr. of Akron; and grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Sara, and Chloe.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown 44230, with pastor Dale Warrick, officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
