RIDDLE, Verna D., 76, of Tullahoma, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Life Care Center. A Coffee County native, she was a member of the Church of Christ. An accomplished poet, she had many of her poems published in the Manchester Times and The Coffee County Journal.

She began by writing poetry that was published in the Forest Mill Church of Christ bulletin. In 1995 and 1996 she won a Famous Poets Award from the Famous Poets" Society. She was inducted into the Tennessee Health Care Association 's "Who's Who in Tennessee Nursing Homes Hall of Fame" for her lifetime achievements in poetry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Cleo Floyd Merritt.

She is survived by three children, Russell Riddle Jr.,. Christmas, Fla.; Linda R. Rochelle, Normandy, and Wanda F. Riddle, Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters and four brothers.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 14, at Manchester Funeral Home with Brother Horace Lee Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Manchester Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
