Mr. Rainwater married the former Margaret Padgett on Sept. 3, 1944.
He attended Marshall County High School. He served in the United States Air Force and attended airplane, engine and jet engine schools. He worked on missiles that sent man to the moon. He also loved music.
He retired from IBM in 1993, was appointed a lieutenant colonel by Governor George C. Wallace. During his school years, he also worked on a riverboat (the Alexander McKensey) up and down the Mississippi Rivers. He enjoyed fishing and collecting different items.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Carr Funeral Home. Burial was in Sweet Home Cemetery.
