IOLA DAILY REGISTER, FRIDAY 29 SEP 1922.
OBITUARY:

Willie May, wife of Lee Willis, passed away at a hospital in Plainview, Texas. She has been ill for some time and she and her husband went there in hopes that a change of climate would benefit her health, but neither climate, medical aid nor loving hands could do anything that would cure her, and this sweet young life at the age of twenty- four, went back to the God who gave it and the young husband to whom she has been married only three short years, is left in loneliness and grief; the bright future they had looked forward to spending together cannot be on this earth, the happy home is broken-up, and we wonder why could she not live? And at a time when life seemed so full of promise. The only answer is, the master needed her, and the life that promised so much on earth will be finished in Heaven, where God said "I go to prepare a mansion for you."

Before her marriage she was a school teacher, and is a member of the Christian church.

For the past year they have lived in Iola where he is associated with his father in the grocery business.

Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Ashby, and a brother and a sister live at Lockney, Texas, and the funeral services were conducted from the home of her parents. During the short time she has been here she made many friends by her sweet and winsome ways and her kind and loving disposition and their friends mourn with her loved ones. To the heart broken husband, parents, brother, sister and other relatives goes the heart-felt sympathy of all.

Willie May, our darling loved one, we are left so lonely here, but the thought that you're in Heaven helps to dry the falling tear. And we hope again to meet you over on the Crystal Shore. There to live again together and be parted never more.
