Bailey Routt brought his family to Indiana from Kentucky. His son William Edwin Routt was 15 years of age at this time. Whom is my Great-great Grandfather. Bailey is listed in the 1850 census as a brick mason. Bailey taught his sons the brick mason trade, they would make the bricks and lay them for walls etc. for people, and they also sold these bricks at the Cloverdale lumber Store.
Bailey married Elizabeth Atchison on Sept 9, 1822 in Kentucky. They were the parents of Mary Ann 'Polly' born Aug. 24, 1824 in Bath County, KY. Polly married William Hendrix and died March 23, 1908 and is buried in the Cunot Cemetery, George Byram, John Allen, Sarah Ann, Katherine K., William Edwin, James Monroe, and Bailey Kendall Routt.
