The son of John Wesley & Maria (Shell) Williamson, he married Margaret Folkroad and fathered Josephine (b. @1853), John Wesley (b. 02/08/56), Peter (b. 1860). In 1860, he was a tailor living with his family in Liverpool, Perry County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 7" tall with red hair and blue eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Liverpool May 4, 1861, and mustered into federal service at Washington DC July 27 as a private with Co. B, 7th Pennsylvania Reserves (36th Pennsylvania Infantry). Seriously wounded at the battle of South Mountain on September 14, 1862, he was shortly thereafter hospitalized at Middletown, Maryland, where he died from his wounds. His brother Cyrus served in the same company.
