NASHUA AND FITCHBURG -- Ann Marie (Ambrose) Picard, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, after a short illness, with her loving family by her bedside.
She leaves two sons, Michael Picard, of Milford, NH, and Wayne Picard, of Nashua, NH; two daughters, Colleen Warshafsky, and her husband, Steven of Boxford, MA, and Wendy Army, and her husband, Frank, of Milford, NH; and six grandchildren, Brooke and Harrison Warshafsky and David, Sarah, Joshua and Hannah Army. She was predeceased by one brother, Francis "Brud" Ambrose; and two sisters, Mary Wiley and Eileen Caunter.
Ann was born in Fitchburg, MA, on November 8, 1933, a daughter of the late Frank A., and Mary (Kelly) Ambrose. She was a 1952 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School and was a former member of St. Bernard's Parish in Fitchburg. She worked as a secretary at the former General Electric Co. in Fitchburg for several years before marrying and moving to New Hampshire, where she raised her children. She was a loving mother and grandmother who always put herself second to those around her.
She had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed ice skating and sledding with her children in the winter, playing tennis and bicycling in the summer. She rode her bike until the age of 72. She also enjoyed painting, sewing, knitting, crafts and playing Scrabble with her children and grandchildren.
We will hold dearly in our hearts the vision of Ann in one of her many stylish hats, the sparkle in her eye, the stories she shared of her childhood, and the sound of her laughter. May her Irish Eyes always smile down upon us from above.
PICARD -- A Private Graveside Service will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Bernard's Cemetery, 96 Goodrich St., Fitchburg, MA. A Celebration of Ann's life will be held following at the 1761 Old Mill Restaurant, 68 State Rd., East, Westminster, MA. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054.
