Sandra Kaye Leach, 70, of Columbus, died at 8:33 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Leach was a 1959 graduate of University High School in Bloomington and attended Butler University.

From 1972 to 1990, she was a legal assistant for her husband at F. Keith Leach Attorney at Law. From 1990-2004, she was a real estate broker in Indiana and Colorado; from 1998 to 2004, she served as the church secretary at Westminster Christian Church in Westminster, CO; and the last several years, she was a legal assistant at the law office of William Garber in Columbus.

During a good portion of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Mrs. Leach was a clinical therapist and special deputy liaison for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, and in the early 1990s, she served on the Board of Directors of Hamilton County Chapter of the Red Cross.

Mrs. Leach was a member of National Board of Realtors, was active in the Marion County Democratic Party and attended North Christian Church in Columbus.

An avid animal lover, Mrs. Leach had a beloved pet, Guster, that provided many years of love and companionship.

In keeping with Mrs. Leach’s wishes, cremation is planned.

Inurnment will take place next to her late husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Bartholomew County Humane Society. Cards are available at the funeral home or you may make your donation at www.bartholomewhumane.org.


Born in Beech Grove August 24, 1941, Mrs. Leach was the daughter of George W. and Kathryn E. Whipple Patterson. She married F. Keith Leach May 16, 1968. He preceded her in death November 23, 1999.

Survivors include her sons, F. Keith Leach II of Scottsdale, AZ, and Stephen (Tonya) Leach of Columbus; a granddaughter, Terah Bate of Columbus; a great-grandson, Stephen Landress of Columbus; and a sister, Joan.

Mrs. Leach was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a daughter, Lisa Eileen Leach.
