Lloyd had two careers, first as a musician and lead singer in the Big Band Era. He played the saxophone and clarinet and sang 7 nights a week earning $22.50 a week. He went to Chenier Business School and Lamar Junior College in Beaumont, Texas to begin his second career as a Land man in the oil business. He lived in Houston, Kemah and New Braunfels, Texas. He ended his career as the Manager of the Oil and Gas Division of Texas City Refinery.

He loved fishing and boating on Clear Lake. He enjoyed golf in his retirement years and faithfully walking his dog twice daily. He is remembered for his commitment and love for his family, his keen sense of humor, his determination and optimism. His advice would be to work at a job you love !
