From a young age, Gary had a keen interest in the outdoors and developed a life-long love for hunting and fishing. This pursuit led him on many adventures and made for many cherished memories for his family and friends. It was always so much more than just the hunting and fishing for Gary—it was life in its purest form. He taught many of life's most important lessons on these trips.
Gary was a general contractor in Northern Nevada for over 35 years and he took great pride in building custom homes. He was known for his attention to detail and unwillingness to put his name on anything that was not completed to his standards. To this day, many of his greatest friends are those who grew to love him while he built their homes.
For Gary, all things in life ultimately revolved around his family. He was a proud, devoted and loving Father and Husband. He married the love of his life, Donel in 1975 and they had three children together (Wendee, Gary Jr., and Molli). He worked happily and tirelessly to provide for them and he celebrated all family success big and small. He never missed an event and he never held back an "I love you". His genuine nature made all those around him feel special and safe. He believed that a handshake should be binding and that we all have the responsibility to take care of those we love and those who need help. He was like a father to many of his extended family and the friends of his children.
Gary was a treasure to all who knew and loved him. We are saddened by his loss, but inspired by his example.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Donel Wilcox, Daughter Wendee Delano (Jason), Son Dr. Gary Wilcox, Jr. (Kim), Daughter Molli Wilcox (Mark), Son from previous marriage, Benjamin Wilcox, Sister Wanda Williams and many wonderful Brother and Sister-in-Laws, Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews that he loved dearly.
