SANDISFIELD, Mass. -- Thomas Raymond Cormier, 36, of Norfolk Road died Friday in Otis as the result of an ATV accident.
Born in Hartford, Conn., on Aug. 13, 1968, son of Raymond J. and Barbara Crawford Cormier, he moved to Sandisfield in 1970. He attended schools there and was a 1987 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School.
Mr. Cormier worked in the family business, Ray Cormier & Sons Concrete Co., as a cement finisher. He also spent many years working at the family restaurant, Tucker's Place, in Sandisfield.
A hunter and fisherman, he helped found the Nomads Hunting Club "Hi Hoof" and was a member of the North American Wild Turkey Association.
Besides his parents, of Sandisfield, he leaves two sons, Joshua Thomas Cormier and Stephen Michael Cormier, both at home; two brothers, Martin Raymond Cormier of Sandisfield and Michael Raymond Cormier of Windsor, Conn.; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Barbara Crawford of East Windsor, Conn., and his paternal grandmother, Catherine Cormier of Farmington, Conn.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 6, 2005, from 4 to 7 at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. The family invites everyone to join them for a graveside service celebrating the life of Thomas Raymond Cormier to be held Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at 11 at Sandisfield Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Those who desire may make contributions to the Joshua and Stephen Cormier Scholarship Fund to be set up through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington. Remembrances, memories and reflections may be sent to the family through www.finnertyandstevens.com He had a passion for teaching kids about outdoor activities. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lisa Cormier of Sandisfield, along with many aunts and uncles, and was adored by his nieces and nephews.
