Richard Ernest Ainscough
Richard Ernest Ainscough, 78, of Rock Springs died at home April 18, 2007, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Reliance on March 10, 1929, to Horace and Gwendolyn Ainscough.
He attended school in Reliance through 1945 and graduated in 1947 from Rock Springs High School. After working for a short time for the Union Pacific Coal Co. #11 Reliance mine, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served from 1948 until his discharge in 1959.
He attended electronics school and served as an electronics technician aboard USS Eversoll in Japan, USS Mount McKinley in Korea, USS Telfair, USS Shangri-la and USS Guardian. He was also stationed at NAS Fallon, Nev., for two years.
He attended Western Wyoming Community College, and after holding several temporary jobs, was employed in 1961 by Mountain Fuel Supply Company, where he retired in 1986. He married Diana Mary Osborne on May 27, 1961, in Rock Springs, and became the father of a son and daughter.
He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, woodworking, family and friends. He is survived by his wife Diana; son and wife William and Karie Ainscough; daughter Wendy Pieper and companion Kevin Fretheim; sister Eileen Martin; grandchildren, R.J. Pieper, Corissa Ainscough, William Ainscough Jr. and Kaden Ainscough, all of Rock Springs; several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Jack Ainscough of California and Gerald Ainscough of Canada.
Following cremation, memorial services were conducted Sunday at The Church of the Holy Communion in Rock Springs.
